Rachel Brosnahan was born on July 12, 1990. She grew up in Illinois, specifically in Highland Park, where she developed an early passion for performing arts. Her father worked as a children's book editor, and her mother had English roots. Additionally, she is the niece of the esteemed fashion designer Kate Spade.


Her academic journey began at Wayne Thomas Elementary School, followed by Northwood Junior High School. During this time, she discovered her love for theater, particularly musical productions.

While attending Highland Park High School, she actively participated in different extracurricular activities and even worked as a snowboarding instructor. Following her college graduation, she continued to appear in a variety of projects, such as the crime drama The Blacklist (2014) and the medical drama Black Box (2014).
