Hey Lykkers, if you need a dessert that you can prepare in advance, this one's for you. Just make sure you have space in your freezer and a gallon of ice cream on hand. Prepare the pecan ice cream balls ahead of time and heat up the fudge sauce right before serving.

This dessert is not only fun and simple to make but also kid-friendly. Even the little ones can lend a hand. The addition of cereal provides a delightful crunch to the ice cream, elevating it from an ordinary treat to something extraordinary.

Using Your Microwave To Make the Fudge Sauce

Start by retrieving your reliable 2-quart glass batter bowl. With two rounds in the microwave and a thorough mixing, you'll create a velvety, indulgent fudge sauce that's both dense and lustrous—a perfect quick fix for any dessert. Store it for later reheating (safely in the microwave) or gift it by pouring into a charming glass jar.

Pecan Ice Cream Balls Recipe with Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe

Ingredients

Ice Cream Balls:

- 2 cups (260 g) of ice cream

- 1 cup (110 g) of toasted pecans

Hot Fudge Sauce:

- ½ cup (113 g) of butter

- 2¼ cups (270 g) of powdered sugar

- 6 ounces (170 g) of bitter chocolate

- ⅔ cup (151 g) of evaporated milk

- ¼ teaspoon of salt

- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

- Heavy cream, if needed

Instructions

Ice Cream Balls:

1. Scoop out 2 cups (260 g) of ice cream.

2. Using plastic gloves, swiftly shape the ice cream into a rough ball and place it onto a mound of 1 cup (110 g) of chopped toasted pecans.

3. Roll the ice cream in the nuts until the ball is entirely coated, then return it to the freezer to firm up.

4. Wrap the ice cream balls tightly for storage.

Hot Fudge Sauce:

1. In a 2-quart Pyrex batter bowl, microwave ½ cup (113 g) of butter on HIGH for 1 minute and 15 seconds until melted.

2. Stir in 2¼ cups (270 g) of powdered sugar until combined.

3. Place 6 ounces (170 g) of bitter chocolate on top of the sugar mixture in the bowl and pour ⅔ cup (151 g) of evaporated milk over all. Do not stir.

4. Microwave on MEDIUM for 8 minutes, checking after 5 or 6 minutes. The chocolate should be just melted—no more. Alternatively, heat in a double boiler for 30 minutes.

5. Remove from the microwave and add ¼ teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Beat slowly at first, then more vigorously until silky smooth. You can use a portable mixer or a whisk.

6. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add heavy cream, 1 tablespoon at a time, but avoid adding water.

7. Store the fudge sauce in the refrigerator and reheat as needed.
