Hello, Lykkers! Have you ever stood on the edge of the world, where the land meets the sea?

Join us as we recount our adventure at Amphitrite Point Lighthouse, a gem on the rugged coast of British Columbia.

A Beacon of History

As we approached the Amphitrite Point Lighthouse, we were struck by its picturesque setting against the backdrop of the Pacific Ocean. This historic lighthouse, built in 1906, has been guiding mariners safely along the treacherous waters of the Clayoquot Sound for over a century. The site is open year-round, and there’s no admission fee, making it an accessible destination for everyone.

While exploring, we stumbled upon fascinating exhibits inside the lighthouse that showcased its history and the daily lives of its keepers. Did you know that the lighthouse is named after Amphitrite, the Greek goddess of the sea? It felt magical to walk in such a storied place!

Stunning Views and Nature Trails

The panoramic views from the lighthouse are breathtaking. We spent hours simply gazing out at the ocean, watching seals play and sea birds soar above the waves. The surrounding area is also home to several trails, offering a chance to explore the diverse coastal ecosystem. We took the Wild Pacific Trail, a short hike that rewards you with stunning views and the sound of waves crashing against the rocky shore.

This trail is well-maintained and suitable for all ages, making it perfect for families. We even spotted a few otters frolicking in the water—a true highlight of our trip!

Practical Information for Visitors

Planning a visit? The Amphitrite Point Lighthouse is located near Tofino, a charming town known for its stunning natural beauty. The lighthouse grounds are open from dawn to dusk, and while there’s no entry fee, we recommend bringing a small picnic to enjoy by the water. Remember to wear comfortable shoes for exploring the trails!

As for parking, there’s a lot available near the lighthouse, but it can fill up quickly during peak tourist seasons, so arriving early is a good idea.

Savoring Local Flavors

After our adventure, we decided to indulge in some local cuisine. We discovered a cozy café in Tofino, serving delicious options without meat. We tried their wild salmon burger with a side of sweet potato fries—absolutely mouthwatering at about $18. The freshness of the salmon, paired with zesty aioli and crisp veggies, made for a perfect meal after a day of exploration.

We also sampled their vegetable chowder for around $10. Packed with local veggies and rich in flavor, it was the ideal comfort food on a cool, breezy day.

As we wrapped up our visit to Amphitrite Point Lighthouse, we couldn’t help but reflect on the serenity and beauty we had experienced. The lighthouse isn’t just a landmark; it’s a reminder of the enduring connection between nature and history.
