As we set off on our latest adventure, the Lions Gate Bridge beckoned us with its stunning views and rich history.

Spanning the Burrard Inlet in Vancouver, British Columbia, this iconic suspension bridge not only connects the city to the North Shore but also offers an unforgettable experience for visitors.

A Walk Across History

Walking across the Lions Gate Bridge is an experience that should not be missed. Opened in 1938, the bridge stretches 1.82 miles and boasts breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and waterfront. We decided to embark on this journey early in the morning to enjoy the tranquility of the sunrise illuminating the skyline.

Practical Information:

The bridge is open 24 hours a day, making it accessible whenever you want to take in the views. There are no tolls for pedestrians, which is a nice perk! However, vehicles must pay a toll when entering from the West side. Expect to pay around $3.50 CAD for passenger vehicles during peak hours.

Attractions Nearby

Once we reached the North Shore, we found plenty to explore. Nearby, Stanley Park offers a lush escape with miles of walking trails, bike paths, and scenic viewpoints. If you’re a nature enthusiast, don’t miss the famous Seawall. We rented bikes for about $10 CAD an hour and cruised along the waterfront, soaking in the sights.

The Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is also just a short drive away. This thrilling attraction features a stunning suspension bridge that offers a different perspective of the forest. Tickets are priced around $60 CAD, but they include access to several treetop walkways and nature trails, making it well worth the price.

Savoring Local Flavors

After our adventure on the bridge, we craved some local cuisine. We stumbled upon a cozy spot called Nook, which serves up delicious, fresh Italian dishes. We couldn’t resist trying their Margherita pizza for about $17 CAD and a hearty Caesar salad for around $12 CAD. Everything was bursting with flavor, and we loved the relaxed atmosphere.

For a quick snack, we also discovered Cartems Donuts, famous for their creative flavors. We tried the Maple Meat donut for $4 CAD and a classic vanilla glaze for $3 CAD. They were absolutely delightful and made for a perfect treat while exploring the area.

If you’re looking for a cozy place to rest after a day of exploring, we highly recommend The Lonsdale Quay Hotel, located right by the waterfront with stunning views of the bridge. Prices start at around $150 CAD per night, which includes amenities like free Wi-Fi and breakfast. The location is perfect for easy access to both the bridge and the surrounding attractions.
