The snow leopard is a beautiful and endangered feline.

The snow leopard does not live in as extensive an environment as the money leopard, which lives year-round in the highlands and is named for the environment in which it lives.

Originally, snow leopards were supposed to live above the snow line, but in the winter it is difficult for them to find food there, so they also descend to the populated areas below the snow line to find food, usually at altitudes of 1,800-3,000 meters. In summer, to chase various alpine animals, such as rock sheep, northern mountain goats, and ibex, the snow leopard rises to high altitudes of 3,000-6,000 meters.

Snow leopards are nocturnal, moving most frequently at dusk and dawn, and occasionally during the day. They are fierce and alert, with a sharp sense of smell and hearing. They move slowly and deftly, and are good at jumping, being able to leap across a ditch of about five meters wide and easily jump onto two or three-meter-high rocks. When hunting, snow leopards often use the method of ambush or sneak attack.

In the high-altitude snowy mountains, there are no woods or low vegetation, and snow leopards mostly live in open areas, and their body colour is adapted to such a living environment.

The snow leopard's body colour is recognized by zoologists as one of the most beautiful among felines.

The snow leopard's body surface is greyish white, slightly showing some light grey and light cyan, and there are many inconspicuous and irregular black spots and circles on its body surface, making it look gorgeous and precious.

Because of this body colour, the snow leopard is particularly harmonious with its surroundings, even if it passes by it during the day, it is not easy to notice, so the snow leopard is easy to hide and hunt, which is also an important reason why it is difficult for people to hunt the snow leopard.

The snow leopard's bones and skin are expensive and have a high economic value, so they have been the object of some humans.

The snow leopard has a fixed route of activity, and poachers can capture it by burying iron clips in its path, leading to the endangerment of its population.

At the same time, the declining number of rock sheep and the destruction of the ecological environment have caused havoc on the survival of the snow leopard. This beautiful feline is a biological symbol of the highest altitude in the world and an indicator of a healthy mountain ecosystem. Faced with these most critical threats, the survival of the snow leopard population requires the support of every country and every person.
